Marvel Studios contracts are one of the most fascinating things ever discussed in Hollywood. From one-off appearances that pay actors small sums, to signing multiple films right after, which include bonus credits and sometimes even cameos. It’s no wonder things can get a little lost when we learn more details about some of these contracts, so it’s really surprising that we just learned, thanks to The Hollywood Reporter, that Chris Evans role. In Avengers, Infinity War is just a cameo. The Hollywood Reporter is usually the first to be able to provide information from the US about contracts, payments and various things that involve the back end of how much some of the actors earn in terms of what is happening with DVD sales, sales Blu-ray, streaming. and of course the box office cut.
Now, when it comes to the initial sign-in process, we know that Marvel Studios tried to lock down very early on. Actors for three to six to nine, sometimes even more appearances. These would usually include multiple movies and of course cameos. So we found out that Chris Evan’s role in Avengers Infinity War is actually one of the cameos that he had under contract and that’s how they structured his contract. Essentially, we learn that he appears in the film less than 7% of the time.
This means that in total, because of the contract he has, the length of the movie’s running time, and how much of the movie he is in total, this qualifies him as a cameo because he’s in the movie for a total of seven minutes and 30 seconds. below 7%. Somewhere around 6 2-3 anything but between 6 and 7%. So yes, Captain America. Chris Evans is just a cameo in Avengers Infinity War, so for those wondering. This means that Chris Evans was actually paid a lot less for Avengers Infinity War than he was for Captain America, Civil War, Avengers Age of Ultron, or even the Avengers endgame, since Avengers Infinity War is technically one of his cameo roles and that’s all he gets.
And that’s really interesting, right? Because I think about that movie, he’s one of the characters, along with Tony Stark and Doctor Strange, that stands out to me as a main character. But I mean, look, he’s literally just a cameo, and that’s pretty telling, but it also shows you how Marvel Studios has these contracts locked down to perfection so they don’t have to pay you more than they have to. Just absolutely crazy.
